Anti-Trump Wave Is Sweeping The Globe: Canada, Australia, and the Global Rejection of Authoritarianism is on
Australia Pulled a "Canada" as the Global Repudiation of Trump Grows
The free world is giving MAGA the middle finger. In a world overshadowed by the rise of authoritarianism, MAGA, a seismic shift is underway.
From Canada’s northern borders to Australia’s shores, and across nations like Germany, Brazil, Poland, Estonia, and the United States, a powerful anti-Trump wave is sweeping the globe. This isn’t just a series of isolated elections—it’s a global movement rejecting Trumpism, MAGA, and authoritarian politics. Democracy isn’t just surviving; it’s roaring back to life. Canada’s election of Mark Carney and the punishment of Pierre Poilievre, mirrored by Australia’s ousting of Peter Dutton after a Trump-fueled lead crumbled.
This isn’t a trend - it’s a global rejection of authoritarianism that started in Canada with the election of MAGA Killer Mark Carney, and it’s going to keep going until we box that prick in and MAGA dies a very public death.
Canada Started It
Canada’s recent election delivered a stunning verdict that lit the “F*** Trump” global fuse. Mark Carney—celebrated economist and former governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England—swept to victory as Prime Minister, while Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative Party leader, suffered a crushing defeat. Poilievre held a commanding 30-point lead in the polls, buoyed by a populist, undefinable anti-woke, anti-human rights, anti-reproductive rights, authoritarian campaign. The second Trump was elected, that lead evaporated as voters recoiled from his perceived alignment with Donald Trump’s bullshit authoritarian playbook. Like their Australian counterparts, Canadians voted against the Dollar Store Trump candidate in DROVES.
Trump’s insane rhetoric, schizophrenic trade war threats, and talk of annexing Canada turned the tide. Poilievre’s failure to distance himself from Trump’s “America First” ethos—echoed in his own promises to slash foreign aid and defund state media—became his undoing. Canadian voters saw through the MAGA-inspired costume, opting instead for Carney’s steady hand and fierce defense of national sovereignty.
In his victory speech, Carney didn’t mince words: “President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us. That will never, ever happen.” The message struck a chord. For Canadians, this wasn’t just an election but a stand against Trumpism’s encroachment. Poilievre’s punishment at the polls wasn’t subtle; it was a resounding rejection of Trump’s authoritarian effort to assert dominance over another sovereign country.
Australia: Dutton’s Trumpian Misstep
Australia’s 2025 election tells the same anti-Trump story. Peter Dutton, leader of the Liberal Party, entered the race with a massive pre-election lead, channeling a Trump-style bravado that thrilled his base. But like Poilievre, Dutton’s fortunes flipped as the anti-Trump wave crashed Down Under. He didn’t just lose—he lost his own seat, a humiliating fall for a once-dominant figure who ran around screaming about the “wokes” while working with Trump’s MAGA campaign team to turn Australia into a Trump/MAGA Satellite State.
Australian voters, wary of Trump’s global influence, weren’t buying it. Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party seized the moment, riding a wave of anti-Trump sentiment to a decisive win. Conservative strategists later admitted the error: mimicking Trump in a post-Trump world was a “colossal misstep.”
No Shit.
Maybe it was Trump’s campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, talking about how he was trying to help Australia’s “EMU Trump, Peter Dutton, get elected:
What’s shocking to so many pundits is how Trump is openly working with authoritarian Alt-Right parties in other countries to tip the scales. Almost as shocking is how voters in Canada and Australia have completely fucking recoiled - not just by electing leaders with character but the punishment of MAGA/Trump aligned candidates by voting them (Dutton/Poilievre) out of their jobs.
The parallels with Canada are uncanny. In both nations, leaders betting on Trump’s lingering appeal misread the room. The result? A rebuke of authoritarianism’s playbook, delivered by voters tired of Trumpian bullshit.
Incumbent PM Anthony Albanese was DOA until Trump started meddling in Australia’s election. Like Mark Carney, Albanese swept to victory over the MAGA Franchised Leader because the Trump effect is real.
A Global Tide Against Authoritarianism/Trump Effect
Canada and Australia aren’t outliers—they’re part of a broader awakening. Around the world, recent elections reveal a pattern of resistance to Trumpism and its ilk. Here’s a snapshot of this global rejection:
Germany: The far-right AfD party grabbed 21% of the vote but hit a wall—branded “extremist” by the domestic spy agency and excluded from coalitions by mainstream parties. Democracy held firm.
Brazil: In 2022, Jair Bolsonaro’s authoritarian populism met its match. Voters chose Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a razor-thin victory, waving anti-fascist banners as they reclaimed their democracy.
Poland: A record-breaking 74.4% turnout in 2023 toppled the illiberal Law-and-Justice government after eight years. It wasn’t just a win—it was a democratic rebirth.
Estonia: Prime Minister Kaja Kallas’s Reform Party crushed the far-right EKRE, refusing any coalition with extremists. A small nation sent a big signal.
Even beyond elections, the numbers tell the story. A Pew Research Center survey across 34 countries found only 28% trust Trump on global affairs, with 69% expressing distrust. In France, Germany, and Sweden, that distrust soars above 80%. In Canada and the UK, majorities agree: Trump’s style doesn’t fly. This isn’t mere dislike—it’s the fuel powering a worldwide democratic resurgence.
Why This Matters: Democracy’s New Dawn
The anti-Trump wave isn’t a fluke—it’s a movement with momentum. From Carney’s triumph in Canada to Dutton’s downfall in Australia, voters are rejecting authoritarianism’s tired script. Germany’s defiance, Brazil’s grit, Poland’s turnout, Estonia’s clarity, and America’s resilience all point to the same truth: people are done with division and bluster. They’re choosing hope, unity, and democratic values instead.
But the fight isn’t over. Authoritarianism still lurks, testing democracies at every turn. The Atlantic Council and Freedom House have tracked a global decade-long slide in political freedoms—a reminder that vigilance is non-negotiable. Yet what’s unfolding now is proof that when voters and institutions stand together, democracy doesn’t just endure—it thrives.
Keep the Tide Rising
This is more than a trend; it’s a new dawn for democracy. Canada’s rejection of Poilievre and Australia’s ousting of Dutton are clarion calls, echoed from Berlin to Brasília. The anti-Trump wave is sweeping the globe, and it’s up to us to keep it surging. Regardless of what Trump says or what Fox News reports, the world is turning on Trump. It’s a matter of time before it happens in America. Let’s hope it happens soon before America is lost forever.

Hey Dean, wanted to comment on your re-use of the Liberals annihilate Conservatives headline. I was thrilled that Mark Carney won the election, and let's face it, it was all him BUT characterizing a virtual dead heat in the popular vote as electoral annihilation invites a complacency about the divisions in the Canadian public. Yes, Poilievre lost his own seat, resoundingly, and that could be termed political annihilation but I'd rather we remember how close the vote actually was, and how, as a result, we continue to have minority rule in this country.
Unfortunately, Romania just voted in a Trump wannabe.
It’s a bigger problem than it may seem as he’s virulently against support for Ukraine and Romania is a vital corridor for weps supply. Claims not to be in Putin’s pocket, but his policy statements indicate otherwise. We’ll see…
