I have a couple of comments in relation to your narrative about the cancellation of the Avro Arrow program (CF-105). It should be noted from the outset that I knew one of Avro-Arrow's employees, who was one of the many people whom the company was forced to lay off on February 20, 1959.
There were a number of problems with the CF-105 development. For one thing, it had an estimated combat radius or flight range of 300 miles (about 488 kms. Somehow, those at the top have forgotten the true meaning of being a neighbor, partner and ally. As a child, I learned the words to your anthem and love the line, “Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee” and always thought how great it was to have such great neighbors who were standing on guard for us as we were for you.
