BREAKING: Canada "Mulling" Expulsion of US Ambassador, MAGAT, Pete Hoekstra
Hoekstra Spent the last four days gaslighting Canadians as "Anti- American" Lying About Trump "being done" with 51st State Threats
May 29, 2025
Pete Hoekstra, Donald Trump’s newly installed MAGA faithful U.S. Ambassador to Canada, has officially worn out his welcome. Less than a month into Mark Carney’s historic win and Canada’s clear rejection of MAGA politics, Hoekstra (who is one of the authors of Project 2025 and a hard core Dutch Reform Religious Quack) has gone out of his way to insult, mislead, and gaslight Canadians on behalf of Trump’s America.
This isn’t diplomacy. This is sabotage in a navy suit by a dyed-in-the-wool MAGAT extremist who needs to leave this country, NOW. And rumor has it that expelling Hoekstra isn’t “off the table.”
The Gaslight Tour: One Message for Canada, Another for MAGAland
Over the May 24 weekend, Hoekstra appeared on CBC’s The House and told Canadians to “get over the 51st state thing,” insisting Trump was done joking about annexing Canada. Canadians had nothing to worry about, he implied. He and Trump would never bring it up again.
Fast forward 72 hours.
Trump went full Reality Show Autocrat again, posting on Truth Social that Canada could access America’s new "Golden Dome" missile shield for free — but only if Canada agreed to become the 51st state. Otherwise? $61 billion.
The same week, Hoekstra took the stage at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan and delivered a backhanded attack on Prime Minister Mark Carney, claiming his campaign had an "anti-American tone."
Let’s unpack that: Mark Carney, former head of the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, champion of Western economic unity, and perhaps the most Atlanticist Canadian PM in history, is accused of being anti-American because he criticized Trump’s bullying tactics and trade war threats which were all deemed illegal (Hoekstra knew) yesterday and Struck Down by USCIT.
This is Hoekstra’s game. Play the Gaslighting diplomat in Canada. Play attack dog for Trump in the U.S.
When Diplomats Become Operatives
There are rules for this kind of thing. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Article 41 requires foreign envoys to "not interfere in the internal affairs" of the host country. Hoekstra violated that by trashing Canada’s elected leader on U.S. soil. Not once. But repeatedly.
This isn’t the first time Hoekstra’s been caught playing politics abroad. He was reprimanded while serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands for hosting a fundraiser for a Dutch far-right party. He’s made a career out of blurring the lines between diplomacy and MAGA brand management.
Canadian foreign policy expert Will Greaves put it plainly: if we are remotely serious about sovereignty, Canada should consider rejecting ambassadors who echo annexationist threats. Hoekstra, instead of de-escalating, decided to escalate by calling the Canadian backlash "outrageous."
That’s not diplomacy. That’s trolling. And it should have consequences.
Canada Is Not For Sale. Or for Smearing.
Let’s be clear: Canada’s rejection of Trumpism is not anti-American. It’s pro-democracy. Canadians like Americans just fine. What we don’t like is being threatened, lied to, or treated like a colony.
Hoekstra has mocked our concerns, downplayed Trump’s threats, and used his platform to insult the very government he is supposed to engage with in good faith.
This isn’t how allies behave. It’s how operatives behave. And if Pete Hoekstra wants to be Donald Trump’s personal PR rep, he can do it from Mar-a-Lago, not from Sussex Drive.
The Diplomatic Option: Persona Non Grata
Under Article 9 of the Vienna Convention, Canada has every right to declare Hoekstra persona non grata — effectively expelling him from the country without explanation. It’s a serious move, but sometimes seriousness is the only response left.
We’ve expelled foreign diplomats before. China. Russia. Venezuela. Why should Trump’s flunky get a pass?
Expelling Hoekstra would send a clear message to both the Trump regime and the world: Canada doesn’t play games with its sovereignty. You can send us a diplomat. But not a propagandist.
What Should Happen Now
Summon Hoekstra immediately and reprimand him for interfering in domestic discourse and lying to Canadians.
Make public the full transcript of his Michigan comments, along with his CBC interview, to highlight the two-faced nature of his diplomacy.
Declare him persona non grata if the behavior continues. He’s already violated diplomatic norms and shown no remorse.
Kick Hoekstra out of Canada and refuse another until the US sends a serious diplomat, not a political operative, to rebuild trust with Canada.
Canadians don’t hate America. We just refuse to be bullied by it. Expelling Hoekstra isn’t a rejection of American friendship. It’s a demand that friendship go both ways.
Hoekstra has made his choice. He chose Trump over truth. It’s time Canada chose sovereignty over subservience.
#ExpelHoekstra Now.
Send him home.

Declare him "persona non grata"? Do it. The more the Trump regime is "shown the door" the better for Canadians...and Americans.
You are exactly right about his role. Comments against Canada will increase under Trump. He is looking to villainize us so he can annex us. The language comes first. If he hasn’t been officially recognized as ambassador yet we are kicking out a nominee not an ambassador. No biggie there.
