More than likely not but Fean makes it clear who is on the side of the win and why. That’s what I love about him! This is what’s happening, this is why it matters.
I’d just like sanity. Full stop. This country (the U.S.) has become a continuing nonstop trauma, an out-of-control train careening along the tracks in great danger of a derailment. Every moment I wake up here I relive the personal trauma of my upbringing. I’m in a permanent flashback that never seems to end. It’s intolerable. But I wish Canada well. How nice it must be to wake up without being filled with dread.
Canada has every right to act in its own interests. The US does, and has never apologized for it. Trump has created the conditions that allowed China to capitalize on US instability. He LOVES to talk about who holds all the cards. Mark Carney is teaching him that his hand is weaker than he thinks.
The US is s fascist country now and will be treated as such by the rest of the civilized world. Americans had better remember this: the rest of the world did not distinguish "good Germans" from "bad Germans" when judging Germany after WWII.
Canada is seeking stable adult relationships. The US cannot provide that, so Canada is looking elsewhere. Bravo Canada. I never thought I would be saying that about China, but I get it.
Denmark, Greenland and the EU need to do that too. They cannot believe or accept that they are not dealing with adults when they deal with the Trump administration. Instead of dealing with Trump and his cronies like one deals with juvenile delinquent children, they are still treating Trump like an adult. Here is DW News in English talking about the plans.
Denmark and the EU need to do what US states and some other countries are doing and that is taking Trump to Court. They need to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration for threatening Denmark and Greenland, and violating the NATO treaty without permission from US Congress. They should be getting a good US law firm and filing a lawsuit or their own version of an Attorney General like the US States are doing to hold Trump back.
And Trump didn't do this alone. The millions and millions of Americans who voted for him are ultimately responsible for this debacle. Because of their blind hatred, their fabricated resentments, their ignorance, gullibility, and manipulability.
It is also the fault of those in the US, Republicans and Democrats, who are the first to complain (here, on X, Instagram, TikTok) but who don’t vote and don’t contact their Congress people to voice their thoughts.
May be harsh to say, so I’ll put the blame on my mother since she said it to us 🙂, if you choose not to vote, your opinion doesn’t matter much.
Canada, you owe us nothing and you help us by turning away. We need the discontent with this administration to grow in the US - and slowly it is.
Your opinion, and your mom’s is absolutely correct! It sickens us to hear & read about people who bitch about the government & congress etc. & don’t vote - a silly analogy would be “you can’t win the lottery if you don’t play the lottery”
That fact, from me as an American, is the scariest thing of all AND that they’re holding a 40% approval - blows my mind - WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE & WHY WOULD THEY WANT A FASCIST, OLIGARCHY type government instead of democracy! It’s totally 🤯😳🤬🥵
I agree with you. Trump’s 35% - who vote and are vocal - will only change if they feel the effects of Trump’s policies and they won’t necessarily stop supporting Trump, they’ll tell Congress to fix it. Fine, let’s get the Republican Congress people seeing supporting Trump is detrimental to their staying in Congress. That leaves 65% of Republicans voters and where are they right now? Maybe they voted for Trump, maybe they didn’t, but they can’t be happy with what’s happening now. Where are they? I don’t think they are speaking out.
And on the Democrat side. I got a call asking if I’d be voting at the midterms. The person calling said she was disheartened by the number of Democrats she had called who said they weren’t going to vote because nothing happened when they did. Come on! What???
So, all of this - and more - is why I push other countries letting us feel the pain and why I push for Americans to contact their Congress people, whether or not you vote, and then ask everyone to vote. Hoping American apathy will end before our democracy does.
Those asses didn’t just vote for orangey, the vote for Miller, Vought and the whole cabal from Project 2025. Don’t tell us you didn’t know - you chose not to know
Great article Dean!! As an American struggling to help right the U.S. ship despite a Bozo in command, thank God to Canadians who refuse to bow to the Trump dictatorship!! You’re leading the way for democracy! Love Carney!! The right guy at the right time in the right place! Keep up the good work Canada!
Excellent stack tonight, Dean! I am So glad I found your Substack and did subscribe, and for such a small amount of change I get to laugh with you, Lev and others on your podcast. I’m an American citizen but I get so giddy reading a little potshots at the orange clown we have here in D.C.!!! Keep them coming now…
So very sorry to see the terror and horror Minnesotans suffering at the hands of a violent nazi regime. My heart breaks for your country as a whole. And to think, like with Hitler, Americans unbelievably voted for this felon rapist. The world was shocked and aghast. It seems the only people who didn’t see the devastation that was coming were Americans.
Great write dean! Man you can pound those words. I can only hope that every MAGAmaniac in the US & Canada read it! Fantastic fucking job!
Not certain MAGAmaniac would understand how knowledgeable and competent leaders analyze options and select decisions that benefit their country.
More than likely not but Fean makes it clear who is on the side of the win and why. That’s what I love about him! This is what’s happening, this is why it matters.
I’m not certain that MAGAmaniac
Well said. Here's to sanity in trade.

Agree, Linda. The only thing better might be getting T and his regime to the ICC. Thanks for your comment; it was a good one!

So true! From a disgusted American, it makes one cry to see what has become & what trump/miller have done to our government!
The important point comment was meant for you, D. Peter. Millions actually voted for the asshole three times.
A very important point to make- thanks!

I don’t really trust China, but I trust them a hell of a lot more than the US. Sad.
Well done, Canada. Normal US Citizens understand. We are embarrassed, terrified and sad.

Always leave an abusive relationship. Period.
I so agree. Time for the West Coast to go.
Great! Squeez the MOFO until he screams. Elbows up!
In the words of my dear departed aunt, "Trump can go rub salt in his ass!"
Your aunt was clearly awesome. 😆

Dean has a way with words, he bites, we laugh and learn!
Very reasonable response by Canada.
I love this, Dean! Can I move to Canada and become a citizen? (Have mercy; I’d be arriving from Minnesota)
