It’s time for the world to move on without a reckless, criminal United States as the lead player. Ukraine will be saved and all of Europe will be strengthened in this endeavor. Zalenskyy is the Man of the Year, and his legacy will inspire a brave European coalition as a result. It’s sad to live in America and see the world moving forward as we regress. It’s a goddamn shame.
I began the day down in the dumps. Reading this article helped me. It has been painful to watch Putin’s criminal war on Ukraine. You have shown us a brighter day for Ukraine and Europe. Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel for the Ukrainian people is reason to celebrate. God bless Ukraine and Zelenskyy. We are living through our own kind of hell in America. It is good to see Europe standing up to the traitor in the White House.
The fact is Trump (U.S.) and Russia have been played like a pair of cheap violins by Europe and a group of Commonwealth countries. Trump sees himself as an all-powerful world leader and Putin as his henchman, much like Hitler and Mussolini.
We (both Canada, the Commonwealth and Europe) are fortunate to have Mark Carney available to see through the scheming tricks of Trump and Putin, and initiating appropriate steps to thwart their attempts at domination of free countries around the world. 👍
Mark Carney saw the writing on the wall from the start of trump 2.0. You are fortunate he decided to act, and has brought Canada to the European table in various productive ways. trump is an idiot, being played by many who are smarter and even more ruthless than he is. We applaud Carney and Canada for the resolute action they’re taking to protect sovereignty and its citizenry.
I fully understand and support your position, David. Chattel slavery has been the cornerstone of American economic growth. We are already living the slow and painful death caused by the robber barons, past and present, and there doesn’t appear to be any appetite in our legislature for minimizing the escalating pain.
The military is NOT Congress, or vice versa. The military is in an uproar right now because they are afraid of being given illegal orders that, if followed, may well result in them being court-martialed. This is not what they signed up for! They signed up to protect the US, their friends, families, and democracy. If even 20% of the military refuses to follow illegal orders it will bring general order crashing to a halt. The upper echelon knows it and are standing up to DT's wannabe dictator tendencies. This info is coming from sources from within the Pentagon as reported elsewhere on Substack. If you want a good resource check out the The West Point History Professor.
"The upper echelon knows it and are standing up to DT's wannabe dictator tendencies". I hope that's true, yet know of no public examples of it.
What I do know of is the example of the Admiral in the Southern Command. The US navy and air force were OK with bombing fishing boats, plus the very lowest level drug mules and even shipwrecked survivors.
Of course there are no "public" examples. You expect them to come out and make statements against the fascist regime? Literally put themselves on "the firing line!" There is a lot the "public" doesn't know and for good reason. But there are sources on the inside that are providing details that indicate the military is standing strong. One public example, that has been well publicized, is the Hegseth/DT gathering of all the top brass is Sept 2025. Here's the summary of the Brass feelings from AI: After the September 30, 2025, gathering at Marine Corps Base Quantico—where Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth addressed hundreds of the U.S. military’s top brass—there were no public statements of support or endorsement from the senior officers in attendance. Instead, the following was observed:
Silence and Nonpartisanship: The assembled generals and admirals mostly sat in silence during Trump’s and Hegseth’s speeches, adhering to the military’s tradition of nonpartisanship. Despite Trump’s encouragement to applaud, the officers largely refrained, a notable contrast to the event’s political tone
.
No Public Endorsements: No active-duty senior officers issued public statements supporting the policies or rhetoric presented at the gathering. The event was described by some career military officials as causing “serious unease,” particularly regarding Hegseth’s sweeping overhaul of Pentagon priorities and the politicized nature of the summit
.
Policy Announcements: Hegseth used the event to announce a series of controversial reforms, including new physical fitness standards, restrictions on beards, and changes to the inspector general process. These were presented as directives rather than collaborative decisions, and there were reports of private resistance among some officers.
Great article. Russia and Donny have been exposed for their attempts to manipulate the "peace plan" which benefits Russia and is a terrible, terrible plan for democracy. These two weak bullies are only in it for greed and world dominance. Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are shadow diplomats that are working against America's best interests. I consider them all to be TRAITORS to this country and to the people. 🇺🇸
This is exactly how this story needed to end! Both tRump and putin needed to understand that they weren’t going to win this no matter what kind of crap they tried to pull. And this is an excellent article depicting all of that! Thank you, Dean!!
This does my heart good. I hope this wipes the super superior little smirk off Kushner, that snotty little bastard, who just shows up like a bad penny whenever there’s more money to screw us out of. He is so repulsive.
Excellent article. I profoundly hope you are right on all fronts!! I just bought and will wear daily the t-shirt that says 'Are we great again yet? 'Cause I'm just embarrassed....'
Thank you, Dean, for this information. Finally, someone is standing up to the Russian asset in the White House. Canada aligns with the European Alliance and hopefully the American people will free themselves from the Putin lapdog, Trump
Today, Russia is throwing everything it has left at Ukraine as the end of the war comes into sight. The sanctions plus internal Russian overspending combined with the huge drop in oil profits via Ukrainian strikes at many refineries, depots, and harbors have weakened Putin’s control. On the other hand, Ukraine is now the leading country in military innovation and weaponry with their brilliant creation of much less costly and built in country missiles, FPV’s, and drones.
I’m not convinced Trump won’t go to war on behalf of Russia-if I understand the NSS correctly, that’s already an implied result. While I hate that the US is selling out our allies, I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Europe to take ownership of their own defense without the US’s support. Our system is too unreliable now to count on our help, and many people in the US have bought into the white nationalist ideology that supports Russia’s viewpoint. It’s high time for Europe to stand on its own without us. And we’ve got way too many problems of our own to deal with at this moment in history.
This article brightened my day. Trump is such an embarrassment to the people of the US, and the damage he's doing by linking arms with a KGB killer is immeasurable. I thank our lucky stars that European countries, including finally the UK, are making it clear that Washington doesn't call the shots for Europe. This is the best news I've heard in a long time. Slava Ukraini! And thank you to all our [sadly, former] allies for forming a new Democracy Bloc in Europe.
“…If Trump tries it, he becomes a rogue actor — not a commander-in-chief…”
I think Trump is already a rogue, maybe has been since his teenaged years; I like the sentence though, perhaps his supporters will finally see that. Thank you, Dean.

Thank you Dean. Great article and I am glad they are standing up to this moron we call President.
Hello, Dean. This is by far one of the best, most concise, and "good news" articles to have been posted. Thank you.
"The rank and file won’t do it.
The Joint Chiefs won’t do it.
Congress won’t authorize it.
NATO wouldn’t allow it.
America’s allies wouldn’t tolerate it."
I fervently HOPE our military won't obey rump if he orders them to fight. But I'm not confident in anything anymore. Especially congress!

No "standing up" to Trump.

I question whether the Supreme Court can step in to say that whatever Trump orders the military to do is automatically legal.
This band of unconstitutional minded justices are so far up trumps behind, we will need to start their impeachment NOW
Thanks Dean, for another excellent summary. I’m so thankful Canada joined this Coalition. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

great article thank you. Putin and Trump have already divided up the minerals and other natural resources of Ukraine...in their minds

What happens when you treat your friends and allies as the enemy from whom you steal and kick to the curb for your own self-serving purposes.

Magnificent! It's a shame that the U.S. couldn't see its way to supporting the right side. Thank you for this wonderful essay.
