The more we hear about our Arctic forces going to Minnesota, the more we know that Greenland is in the crosshairs. Canada and the EU have known about this and planned for it, with their “whole of nations“ planning. I hate thinking about what’s going to happen in the US, but maybe it’s the only way to get rid of T and his gang of complicit traitors. God bless all of you going to Denmark and Greenland this week. Be safe. Come home to report further events. 🙏🏻🥰

One Canadians Perspective's avatar

And when those 11th Airborne paratroopers drop on Greenland, they will be shot before they hit the ground and returned to America in body bags!

Wendy Shelley's avatar

That’s what Jacob Kaarsbo said/wrote a couple of weeks ago. Denmark has said it’s shoot first, don’t wait for permission. That’s what I meant about “what’s going to happen in the US”. It’s a crime, to be sure. Thanks!

One Canadians Perspective's avatar

It is. The GOP is going to need to remove its collective mouth from the blobs tiny penis, and grow a spine and put a stop to the insanity!

Anne Fletcher-Jones's avatar

Please let it be so. Slap Trumpty Dumpty down hard. He needs to be taught a sharp lesson.

One Canadians Perspective's avatar

It will take a toll, i’m 62 and our countries have been friends and allies my entire life, i’ve served with Americans. It's going to be difficult to view them as enemies, but Trump is forcing us to do it. We have no choice in this at all! It comes down to honouring our commitment to our NATO partners. And imagining every troop we have to fight, is MAGA!

I was born in the States, lived on the US side of the border for 10y, loved Canada so much I moved there and lived on the Canadian side for 40 more, Naturalized in 2004. We have seen it all from every US administration with this dual-national border perspective. I moved away from the border a few yrs ago and my relationship with the USA is over and done with, it’s dead, it’s an ex-country. 👋🏻😢💔

One Canadians Perspective's avatar

I like your story. I live about 50 minutes from the border. I became disillusioned with the US in the late 80's. I haven't gone to shop or for leisure since 1989. I began refusing business trips when Trump won the election on 2016. I don't expect to ever return. That is no bearing on the people, I just had an epiphany and realized that the America that was projected, was not who that country is. I have been expecting what's happening today since Reagan, and I made a conscious decision to stay away from it!

Aocm🇨🇦🇺🇦🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

For me, 1960’s - ‘70’s going to an urban HS full of activists and a University down the street, made for an excellent education on the true meaning of the USA!

Pamela Austin's avatar

The US military has the right to refuse to carry out an illegal order.

Trump ordering an attack on a NATO ally sounds like an illegal order to me.

If the US paratroopers understand that all NATO allies will respond to a US attack, they may refuse the order. Refusing the illegal order would save their lives.

One Canadians Perspective's avatar

The question is how brainwashed they have become and if they support Trump and his imperialism. For some reason far too many Americans have placed Trump over the Constitution.

One Republican, Rep. Don Bacon says that such an action would spell the end of the Trump Presidency.

Republican Rep. Michael McCaul warned that any U.S. military invasion of Greenland would effectively mean war with NATO, arguing it would trigger the alliance’s mutual defense clause, while lawmakers from both parties criticized President Trump’s push as unnecessary, destabilizing, and driven more by resources than genuine security concerns.

Republican Senators Thom Tillis and Lisa Murkowski warned that President Trump’s proposed tariffs on Denmark and other European allies over Greenland would harm U.S. businesses and fracture NATO, arguing the measures play into Russia’s and China’s hands and risk undermining long-standing alliances without improving U.S. national security.

I'm praying that the members of our Congress grow a pair and put a stop to this stupidity.

I sent a link of Malcolm Nance’s most recent post to Elizabeth Warren on Substack. I hope she listens to it!

You have more confidence than I if you believe the Dems have a plan. I hope your right.

They are disheveled and discombobulated in their approach to governing, to their oaths to the Constitution, to their constituents, and to passing laws.

Their leadership is adrift.

GailyC's avatar

Might be a good idea to keep quiet for now. As they say, “Loose lips sink ships”

Sher''s avatar

I hope they do...but I'm sick of the entire enterprise.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

That’s going to take a lot more than prayer Diana!

Diana's avatar

So maybe sacrifices to the gods?

Sandra Greer's avatar

Yes, you take Fat Boy up the mountain, and a big knife. Build an appropriate altar. God will provide a sacrifice!

Diana's avatar

😂😂😂😂😂

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Provided me a good laugh there Diana!

dfieldman's avatar

They are AWOL in their oaths to the Constitution and to the USA.

Caroline's avatar

Does any of this talk matter? I think the rest of the world would appreciate less talk and more meaningful action.

Sher''s avatar

Damned straight. I'm sick of all of their talks and tweets and stern letters and posturing. They have coasted on Easy Street for years..literally at our expense. None of this awful stuff is news to them...they are THERE. If WE can see the moves and impending disaster..imagine what information they have likely had access to WAY before we did! I could just chew nails...as in rail road ties.

Ellen Franzen's avatar

Come on elliott, everyone should know, especially republicans, that they should not have supported t in 2015. As my favorite poet said, and everyone should know who this is, "you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows". It was clear from the moment he came down the escalator. I'm going outside to hang up my laundry. I'm not going to waste any more time reading about people wringing their hands.

MM Harris's avatar

It was right after the ride down the escalator that did it for me too! ("All Mexicans crossing the border are murderers and rapists." How could so many not have seen our future in that, or if they did, do nothing about it??? We need to choose all of our elected officials more carefully and THEN hold feet to the fire.

Jamae's avatar

It’s always just one, on every issue, every time.

Elizabeth 🇨🇦's avatar

I do not believe this is confirmed. We need sources and facts. Thanks, we’ll see if Dean responds!

This had better not be just more of the typical milquetoast behavior that got us to this point in the first place...

About Canada's choice of aircraft:

Japan just released a formal audit of its weapons orders from the US over the last 5 years.

Japan paid in full up front for the weapons. The contracts provide Japan with no recourse.

The US has not delivered any of them...leaving Japan facing a resurgent China with old equipment.

Why would any country buy US weapons?

I am so incredibly angry with Trump right now. Canada walking away from the F-35 will result in us losing billions in revenue, and he is alienating us from everyone.

Twyla 🇨🇦's avatar

I’m sorry to share more bad financial news… much of the US’s debt is financed by other countries buying US bonds. A wack of them mature in June 2026, and there’s not likely to be any buyers for them, given the current state of things.

I share this to advise preparing for really lean times coming when you might find the US is isolated with no shipping companies serving your southeastern ports.

BJ Zamora's avatar

I am really hoping that Canada and the European nations holding trillions of dollars of US bonds will tell Trump that one foot on Greenland and they will dump them. That will cause a depression here that will make the 1929 crash look like a slow day in the market. I never thought I would hope for such a scenario, but even that is better than one more minute of Trump.

Berble's avatar

They do and they might. They call it the European bazooka. Dropping trillions of US bonds at once. Canada holds billions. China owns approximately 23% of US debt. Japan owns billions. Nothing is ever so cut and dried. Steven Miller wants to put down a few billion people - he thinks the world has too many. I know a few who could go first. The tech bro billionaires they want the minerals. Trump wants fame and more fortune and others want their names redacted out of Epstein’s perverted web.

How soon can the RCAF get the Gripen?

What are your thoughts about an attempt by US forces attempting to cross through Canadian airspace to get to Greenland?

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Canada has decided wisely. NATO will still exist, simply, without America. Trump’s decision to partner with Moscow was made several years ago, it’s unfortunate that the serfs in this country didn’t care to recognize their overlords!

Jamae's avatar

I’m sure all the cabinet secretaries deliberated intently on a name for the Greenland invasion, then Rubio hands King Donald a handwritten note which dtrump reads outloud,

“Minnesota!” And they all fawn and clap and RFK Jr serves raw milk. God help us!

With all due respect to smart Christians out there. Maybe the rest of you should start cleaning your own house. If he had lost the religious folk before the election we would not be in this mess. They martyred him when he was shot, ignored his philandering, immorality and lies. Amplified his gay/trans phobias and anti-vax propaganda. Looked the other way when the Epstein files provided proof of his soullessness.

If you want to help, don’t pray, show your brethren the way out…now.

Catherine's Nook's avatar

Still only a few Republicans in the House & Senate having found their voices. Remind me again which Amendment will get this guy out of office permanently before the year's end? He says he no longer believes in peace, as if that's news.

Wendy Shelley's avatar

The 25th amendment leads to another impeachment, but if not convicted by the Senate. It goes nowhere. Just like before. Article 2, section 4 is the way to get T and all of his cabinet out because of treasonous behavior.

S.E. Sasaki's avatar

That is the best way to remove all the traitors. They all must go including Vance.

Catherine's Nook's avatar

Sadly, too many of them have taken the dark money offered them by rich/powerful people & orgs with malevolent agendas. They will just quietly complain amongst themselves & do nothing as they watch the country's hard fought democracy die.

S.E. Sasaki's avatar

Thank you, Dean, for going to Greenland to report the truth as it happens on the ground. Canadians support the sovereignty of Greenland just as we support the sovereignty of the Ukraine and its people. All this happening because Republicans in Congress and the Senate are afraid to impeach Dementia Don, who is unhappy because Norway didn’t give him the Nobel Peace Prize. (You couldn’t write this stuff!!) They had better be getting those impeachment documents ready.

Make sure the Greenlanders have huge spotlights trained on the sky and their polar bear shooting rifles aimed high when the invading paratroopers drop tonight or tomorrow night! (I hope it doesn’t happen but Trump is insane) Hopefully the US Generals will rein him in 🤞but who knows?

elliottoberman's avatar

Anne Applebaum

Donald Trump now genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him. Also, he really is maniacally, unhealthily obsessive about the Nobel Prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government and certainly not the Danish government, determines the winner of that prize. Yet Trump now not only blames Norway for failing to give it to him but is using it as a justification for an invasion of Greenland.

Nobody around him wants to stop him. They are too craven, or too cowardly, or too greedy. Only Congress can call a halt to this charade. But in order for that to happen, a handful of Republicans have to find the guts to say that 2 +2 = 4. Years of careful diplomacy, billions of dollars in trade, are now at risk because senators and representatives who know better have refused to use the powers they have to block him. Now is the time.

Elizabeth 🇨🇦's avatar

@Dean Blundell. Some good information here but the headline makes it sound definite. Perhaps it is but sources please?? You are reporting something major to Canadians, facts matter.

Wendy Shelley's avatar

For heaven sakes, pay attention to what else is being reported. Try Malcolm Nance (the black man spy) and Jacob Kaarsbo, former intelligence officer for Denmark.

Elizabeth 🇨🇦's avatar

Wendy I subscribe to all and saw Malcolm’s piece first thing this morning. Please - the headline talks about the F-35’s. I am referring to the the headline, as I mentioned. The headline is in the photo. Everyone is so on edge (me included).

Wendy Shelley's avatar

Refer to much earlier Carney announcement about those planes and the Gripens (sp?). Dean wrote about it then and consequently, as have others. Thank you.

Elizabeth 🇨🇦's avatar

Ok. They have NOT been chosen. Still speculation. All I did was ask for a source. Wendy do not reply to me again with this stuff, no time for it.

Elizabeth 🇨🇦's avatar

Again. Where is the source of a Gripen purchase? - that’s all I asked. There has been no formal announcement. Please check sources. Enough.

Lux's avatar

Here is an analysis of Trump's rhetoric, and a timeline of its consistency over 40 years, since he visited the Kremlin in 1987, he is NOT kidding, Greenland is his "Poland" in the historical context, it's about as "definite" as it gets. This guy's analyses are generally spot on...

Fair enough, apologies, only saw the first comment and not the clarification.

You don’t take over another country claiming it’s for national security when doing so would take away that country’s national security. Greenland is part of Denmark.

At the same time Trump is breaking the agreed upon laws of NATO against the will of we the people, he is trying to start his own personal international Trump board of espionage, inviting—of course—Putin to join. Putin who has also lied incessantly and broken his and Russia’s promises not to invade Ukraine after Ukraine gave up her nuclear arsenal. We cannot have a president who is breaking everything that has made this country great while propping up our worst sins—past and present— to take us down to his version of great which is hell.

Lux's avatar

This is why I am a paid subscriber, because real jounalism matters, as terrible as it seems to one who has always relied on news outlets, and "papers of record" here in the US, I have disconnected from ALL of it, because none can be trusted anymore to tell the truth. Sadly, the press in America has become 100% about "perception management", the truth to power element is gone, and it's now wholly owned by the people funding all of this.

I think it's safe to call the press, at this point, collaborators, and when it's finally over, hold them just as accontable as anyone else. The press in America, is the number one reason that millions are not in the streets, if the press were doing their job, I am certain they would be.

Well, THIS American believes, "remaining peaceful" notwithstanding, it is time for Americans to arm up, and fortify their positions. I have every intention of remaining peaceful, but absolutely none of being "unprepared" for what is coming, the writing has been on the wall for a long time now. I DO believe we should make every attempt to "peacefully resist", unfortunately, I ALSO believe it will ultimately, be unsuccessful.

These people WILL be bringing the violence, indeed, already are, so my question is still, how long do we take it? Do we commit to remaining peaceful as we watch them beat, and murder friends, neighbors, or even ourselves? I'm sorry, at some point, self preservation's gotta kick in, I'll be damned if I'll let em drag my friends and neighbors off to be tortured, or "disappeared" in some fucking gulag without a fight, cause man, fuck this, it's time to stand your ground America. Wtf are we, if we just let em roll over us like Attilla the Hun's barbarian hordes?

To our northern neighbors, just know this, SOME of us got your backs, we'll be in it for the long haul, whatever it takes. I predict if/when this shit goes kinetic, an underground develops here in the US, that will be undermining them from the inside the whole time. As grim as things look, I have to believe also, that not ALL of our service men and women will be okay with attacking allies, the ones who are, -deserve- to be sent home in a body bag. As to the normal ones, I can easily see the military factionalizing, and turning against each other. Either way, I think it would be a very big mistake to be unprepared.

Eddie Spaghetti's avatar

I am military-ignorant but is this possible: maga military will go against citizen army but upstanding military members will remain loyal to oath they took to Constitution, not an individual, and will fight alongside citizen resistors, or is this what you meant by military factionalizing?

Lux's avatar

Yeah, that's what I mean, I can see the rank and file having the same 70/30% split, "constitutionalists" - t supporters, and fighting FOR the constitution, and against the ones blindly following one dementad guy. That is, with us normal people, that's my hope anyway....

I know he's kinda purged leadership, but hoping a few loyal to their oaths stayed under the radar, and will lead the normal troops. I'm not military either though, it's just speculation on my part. I just think we should be ready to fight, cause it may come to that.

Jen from 🇨🇦's avatar

Trump isn’t smart. He is also highly demented. Who is putting these ideas in his head they need Greenland? Well they need it then Canada for the dome. Who is the idiot that has actually convinced him they can take on the rest of the world? Honestly?

Nick's avatar

We can only hope the Republicans will see the errors of their ways and vote to completely remove Trump and all of his cabinet and staff for treasonous reasons, all at once.

If Trump is convicted in the US Senate, who will physically remove him from office?
