And the media conveniently declines to mention a word of this decline, after spending four years of non-stop bashing Biden for much less.

Linda Weide's avatar

It was never about Biden's age, that was just the only thing that Trump could say bad about Biden, and the press ran with it, and then so did many Democrats.

The U.S. corporate media has become the enemy of truth. Truly incredible change from the media of the 1960's and '70's. "Deep Throat" in the WaPo, and the Pentagon papers in the NYT. Incredible how billionaires have bought up our media, and destroyed truth as a goal.

Interestingly none of the Substacks I subscribe to talked about the military parade yesterday, they all talked about the marches. That was THE story.

The Guardian mentioned the military parade as one event among all the marches including the march in Washington, so gave it equal coverage to each event but not more.

The Guardian also knows that what is going on between Iran and Israel is a bigger story than that military parade, even if they are tied together.

I find the Guardian to be FAR more informative, and with zero political motives, than the WaPo (my subscription will finally, finally end any day now). The U.S. paper I like is "The Boston Globe". Robert Cadigan, a retired prof from Tufts, quoted some articles from that paper on my substack. I became interested, and now subscribe. It's excellent. The only U.S. paper I read these days. Most (all?) of the substacks I read are celebrating the protests -- as am I!!!

I still get the AP. Since they stood up to the Trump White House I have found myself appreciating them more. Also, I read the US version of the Guardian as well as the British. Both the Guardian and the AP are independent news.

I have always heard good things about the Boston Globe.

kdsherpa's avatar

I'll look into the British version of the Guardian. I expect there's more international news there? Thanks for the advice, both about the Guardian -- AND the AP. I really appreciate that.

It's DISGRACEFUL! Truly SICKENING!!

The insult to Americans by covering up his obvious deterioration is simply vile. The main stream media are fully complicit by accepting the projection to Biden. Our country is being run by his handlers, the creators of Project 2025.

Canada I’d say you are very lucky Mark Carney stepped in, but I actually believe you as a people are simply smarter.

Excellent article Dean.

We'll gladly take the compliment but I don't think we're that much smarter. It's easier to check yourself when you can watch the crazy next door neighbors do everything the wrong way.

Normally I’d say it’s wrong to pick on someone’s failing health and to make it social media fodder. After all Roosevelt was wheelchair bound. And let’s all face it the monster’s lack of morality and empathy and excess of narcissism is a far far greater issue then if the guy needs a foley and wears Depends. But he is mean spirited and has said awful things about others that shows he has not an ounce of grace coursing through his veins. Goomba, if you dish it out you’ve got to take it. Hence I welcome the mean spirited things millions of people around the world toss his way. He’s getting his comeuppance. In fact is it an overstep to say he is the most hated man in the world? I hope he gets his ass whooped at the G7 not that anyone wants to get near his ass as Dean’s post eludes to.

Trump is not running the show in Washington anyway. His regime sycophants are just waiting for him to drop so they can put Vance in his place to further their 2025 agenda which is well advanced. He is being handled and they need him to sign the executive orders. That’s all he’s worth to them now.

Just Dumb is more closely aligned to Russ Vought than is the orange sadist. He is also the puppet of another South African, Peter Thiel. I don't feel any optimism about having JD as prezzident.

JD is evil incarnate 👹

The Republicans hid and denied Reagan’s Alzheimer’s for years. They will do it again. And Vance with neither the charisma or the ability to lie smoothly will be easier to manage or their worst nightmare.

I never thought I’d look so closely at a photo of DJT’s crotch. Just saying.

Tough visual. Again. Substack keeps me wanting to scratch my eyes 👀 with them.

The fact is these observations are very much on target.

I think that the plan all along has been to replace him when necessary. I think what what “they” didn’t foresee was how despicable Vance is. It’s hard to imagine that he will be able to hold Congress and the Senate in the same way. They’ve overplayed their hand way too quickly.

Jake Tapper! Where ARE you?! Come out, come out, wherever you are!

He'll use the Isreal-Iran war that's going on to make a hasty exit, either that, or purposely get into a fight with someone & leave. I hope they all get in a circle and have a good laugh at his expense like they did in his first term. It was priceless :-)

The problem is that Vance will succeed Trump...and he is backed by the same group of billionaire broliarchs as Trump. Even if Trump is healthier than he appears, he has a number of character and moral flaws which make him an unfit President.

Mary Barnes's avatar

He is a disgusting, vile pig. I hope he falls flat on his orange face at the G7 Summit.

That might be offensive to pigs 🐖

It seems like Trump must have used a lot of amphetamines or their equivalent to get through the 2nd Presidential campaign. That's a scary thought and a terrible thing to do to body and brain. How did he manage to de-habituate? Not using (much) now, is he?, if he keeps falling asleep in public?

Michael Ann Ochs's avatar

Can't wait to hear Canadians comments if Trump attends the g7. Please keep it sarcastic and funny.

I'd be protesting his presence if I didn't have to work.

I think Trump's physical and mental decline are becoming very obvious. The amount of self inflicted stress he has subjected himself to would be enough to incapacitate a much stronger and smarter person. Years of decrepit insidious behaviour and the constant negativity of being a morally bankrupt individual must take a toll. Hundreds of lawsuits initiated by and against Trump can't possibly help the blood pressure. Decades of Adderall abuse, would surely contribute to incontinence.

As much as I would cheer his demise, I foresee complications with his early exit for health reasons. Trump would escape prosecution and punishment. Between the SCOTUS ruling on Presidential immunity and the Republican regime's majority, Trump would end his political career a multi Billionaire grifting traitor who is never held accountable.

Worse than that is the fact that J.D.Vance would step into his shoes, which would fit perfectly with the Dark Enlightenment cabal's agenda.

I have to say I’m laughing at the included illustration of the catheter. Who knows what is or isn’t true in that regard, but I guess it could be a fun guessing game if that’s your jam. What is clearly true is Trump has made few trips abroad. Of course he’s not all that welcome in most countries. We have a pretty good idea he’s insane, but I think the real issue is he’s lazy as f—k. He’s never been interested in doing the actual work of POTUS. He just likes the attention and power of the job. This go round he’s got plenty of yes men and women to do his dirty work. Sitting at a desk signing one illegal, unconstitutional executive order after another and then playing golf the rest of the day is about as busy as he cares his schedule to get. The cognitive decline theory has been around for a long time but I think he’s crazy like a fox or he wouldn’t have the MAGA cult wrapped around his little finger and brainwashed. That takes some wherewithal. Personally I think he’s just a very dangerous, evil individual with a big dose of lunacy mixed in.

It’s incredible what Americans expect people to pretend we don’t see. But, in Canada we have our own King, we don’t owe him our loyalty, he’s depending upon our natural politeness. But, that only extends so far🇨🇦

M. Layfield's avatar

The word, king, has been used because it did not upset the MAGA. what we really have is a wannabe dictator.

You’re right that’s more accurate 🌹
