Democracy Lovers, Here’s Your Top 5 Stories to Know Today.
Welcome to the Daily Dean Newsletter, where we cut through the noise and get to the truth. A quick rundown of what’s shaking the world for those who care about democracy. From Musk vs. Trump to Texas floods and a collapsing U.S. tourism industry, here’s what you need to know:
1. DOJ Drops Epstein List Bombshell Amid Musk-Trump Feud
The Department of Justice just pulled a 180, claiming the so-called “Epstein Pedophile Client List” they were supposedly reviewing for months doesn’t exist. This comes hot on the heels of Elon Musk’s explosive claim that Donald Trump’s name is on said list, which he alleged was why it’s been kept under wraps. Musk’s now like a dog with a bone, refusing to let go as his feud with Trump escalates. Is Musk the key to uncovering the truth, or is this just another chapter in their billionaire brawl? The timing raises eyebrows, and democracy lovers should be skeptical of the DOJ’s sudden amnesia. More Here:
BREAKING: The DOJ Just Said There’s “No Epstein Client List.” Elon Musk Is Out To Prove There Is, And That Trump's Name Is On It.
On July 4th weekend — while America was watching fireworks, hot dog eating contests, and UFC promos at the White House — the Department of Justice quietly dropped a bombshell of its own:
2. Musk’s “America Party” Aims to Gut MAGA
Elon Musk isn’t just fighting Trump—he’s trying to bury him. Over the weekend, Musk launched the “America Party,” a direct shot at MAGA’s heart, sparked by Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” slashing EV tax credits that hit Tesla hard. Musk’s new political venture is less about unity and more about dismantling Trump’s base while consolidating his own power. This feud’s gone from Twitter jabs to a full-on political war, and the fallout could reshape America’s right-wing landscape. Keep your eyes on this one—it’s a power grab dressed as principle. Musk vs. Trump: Round 3 – The America Party Gambit Is Turned Into A Glorious Social Media War This Weekend
“Fear is the mind-killer.” That’s what Elon Musk posted on X this weekend in response to Donald Trump’s latest Truth Social meltdown. And if you’ve been watching this absurdly high-stakes grudge match unfold, you know one thing’s true: Musk isn’t afraid anymore—and Trump knows it.
3. America Party: MAGA for Incels, Wrapped in Libertarian Vibes
Musk’s “America Party” platform dropped, and it’s a wild mix of MAGA energy, incel dog whistles, and libertarian buzzwords. Pitched as a “fertility movement” to boost population growth, it’s a bizarre Penal Code, wrapped in tech-bro rhetoric. The platform pushes deregulation, anti-establishment vibes, and a creepy focus on birth rates over democratic norms. It’s Musk’s vision of a tech-utopia future, but it feels like a rebrand of MAGA’s worst impulses for the X crowd. Democracy lovers, beware—this isn’t freedom; it’s control by another name.
Elon Musk’s "America Party" Platform Is Hilarious
Elon Musk did what every disappointed billionaire does when their presidential puppet stops playing nice — he started his own political party.
4. Kerrville, Texas, Drowns While Trump Looks Away
Kerrville, Texas, is reeling from devastating floods, with families displaced and lives upended. Yet, Trump’s response? Crickets. His silence is deafening as the crisis unfolds, showing zero leadership when it’s needed most. While Texans struggle, the White House is too busy with tariff tantrums and Epstein list drama to care. This is a stark reminder of what happens when leaders prioritize personal vendettas over people. Democracy demands accountability—Texas deserves better. More:
Drowned in Silence: While Texas Families Searched for Their Children, Trump Golfed, Ate Ice Cream, and Announced a UFC Event on the White House Lawn
On July 4th, as families across the United States gathered to celebrate freedom and resilience, dozens of families in Kerrville, Texas, were plunged into unthinkable tragedy. By nightfall, torrential rain had caused the Guadalupe River to surge more than
5. U.S. Tourism Industry in Freefall as Global Boycott Bites
The U.S. tourism sector is tanking, with double-digit declines in key areas, while the rest of the world sees a tourism boom. Canada led the charge with a boycott of American goods and travel, sparked by Trump’s tariffs and “51st state” nonsense. Duty-free sales at border crossings like Niagara are down 40-80%, and U.S. businesses are begging for Canadian customers to return. This isn’t just economics—it’s a global rejection of Trump’s policies, and it’s hitting hard. Democracy thrives on cooperation, not isolation. Full Story Here:
Why It All Matters
From the DOJ’s Epstein list dodge to Musk’s power plays and Trump’s neglect of Texas, these stories highlight a broader fight for democracy’s soul. When leaders dodge accountability, prioritize personal grudges, or push divisive agendas, it’s the people who suffer—whether it’s flood victims or an economy gutted by trade wars. Stay sharp, stay engaged, and let’s keep fighting for a world that puts people over power.

You cannot marketize a levee. You cannot libertarian your way through a tornado tossing a double-wide half a mile down the road or the flood waters ripping a child from your arms. The water does not care about your tax philosophy. The wind is not impressed by your rugged individualism. The fire has no love for your private-sector ingenuity.
They vote for the same people who gutted flood maps, deregulated zoning, slashed emergency response budgets, and told them FEMA was an enemy of liberty. Russell Vought and Elon Musk wanted to shred the NWS because Project 2025 thought it was a hive of climate heresy and not meteorology nerds. Cutting NWS’s minuscule $1.4 billion budget to the bone is ironic as hell after last week: more than a few billionaires will save more on their taxes due to the BBB than NWS’s entire budget.
The cost isn’t theoretical. It’s measured in caskets.
In Texas this week, the cost came due again. Water doesn’t negotiate. It doesn’t bargain or compromise. It just takes. You can be rich, you can be poor, you can believe in free markets or federal relief; when the dam breaks, the water doesn’t check your voter registration card. But it does matter what kind of government you’ve built to meet it.

And we are tearing down the walls of the only shelter we have left. But the National Weather Service does. FEMA does.
And we are tearing down the walls of the only shelter we have left. The water is rising.
And without the tiny government agencies like the NWS and FEMA that MAGA loves to hate, there’s not a damn thing standing between us and the flood.
