We have Mormon neighbors in Chicago. They are what some might call liberal Mormons. In fact one of 5 sons in one family did not do a mission because he is not Mormon any more. He also told me his family is not any more. He went to a Chicago Public School in integrated, fairly secular neighborhood. Another Mormon neighbor who also has 5 children has a son who is a ballet dancer. When he was in high school I saw him wearing a shirt with a transgender sign. I asked him where he got the shirt and he told me he got it from a club he is in. Now he is at uni, majoring in dance. He is one of the star male dancers from our community, and his parents have always been super supportive of his dance career. Another Mormon neighbor has 4 children and is a talented and successful children's book author. Another Mormon neighbor has a daughter in middle school whom I would see walking together to school hand in hand with her best friend who is a Black girl. She is white. Her mom is a physical therapist and is a talented gardener as well.
We live in a cooperative of Town Homes based on the Rochdale principles of cooperative living. In any case, the 6 or so Mormon families out of the 32 or so homes are great at being good neighbors, and creating good community. I imagine their pain as Tyler Robinson is getting discussed, and although no one is mentioning him being Mormon, most people will assume he is because he is in Utah and his parents are Trumpers.
Discussing this act is taboo. Who was CK? What kind of a person was he are forbidden from discussion. I do not understand how the far right is all proud to discuss what they stand for, and pretend it means they are noble and good human beings when the rest of us can see through that. Then honoring him in death as if he were a national hero, which he is not to many people, although clearly to some. That is this regime. They honor White Supremacism and White Supremacists, but let someone not of their ilk say so, and they get all sour defending that that which they brag about being is not true. You cannot have it both ways.
Meantime they are trying to elevate other haters around the world. I am in the US right now, but also live in Germany, where Trump, Vance and Musk are pushing a far right agenda, and aligning themselves with a far right party the AfD. They are interfering in German elections, and now also with the German press too. I wrote a piece about the recent actions.
I have serious suspicions about an intelligent man (full ride scholarship) texting ALL the details of his crimes to his partner.
That’s just too good to be true. And the language is completely inconsistent with a Gen-Z, terminally online guy.
Then there’s online chatter about out of state cars at his home (not sure which one, parents’ or apartment) with “serious-appearing” visitors a week before the shooting.
Then there’s the FBI director doing his level best to obfuscate, fuck up and inject every ridiculous opportunity for reasonable doubt. And that was all pre-arraignment?
