This is brilliant. Use the law, interpretation of the law and/or the Constitution to protect the states that are getting raped by this administration and at the same time starve the beast. I fully support this move and not too worried about actual secession. At this point in this administration with over 3 more years of it to go, if there is not a strong and dynamic pushback coming from somewhere, the country will descend into full on fascism. What do we have to lose?

Glad to see that my state is one of them!

Mine is not….my governor bent the knee and folded.. This gives me hope for the future. Meanwhile I sit and wait and support those who are in the fight.

Agent#99's avatar

Yes, I will keep supporting as well. Hopefully, we'll be able to get at least some more voting in our states to do what Iowa did. Let's go!

I wish WA State would get on the bandwagon. Where are Gov. Ferguson and AG Nick Brown?

It goads me that blue state residents are funding this madness against their will. Good for the Govs for fighting back…finally.

I have been saying states should do this for months now, but my plan was that these states would put forth a bill that says that there are no more federal taxes and only states are taxing their populations, and for those taxes they’ll get health care, education, welfare, disaster relief, their own immigration policies, their own military which they can lend to the federal government, but their people will know who pays their salaries, and they pay for infrastructure etc..

One thing I looked at was population size of states and GDP and compared them to EU countries of simiilar size or larger who have smaller GDPs and manage to do this. I have been saying this should happen for months and months. It is important to defund Trump. All he wants to fund is 3 things:

1) Billionaires with himself first

2) the military--which he plans to misuse

3) ICE which he is already misusing

Not with my money. Right now he is shitting on Blue states like mine of Illinois and not representing us. No taxation without representation. I said Blue states could pool their monies if they want to. And, if the Supreme Court says no, too bad. Defund them! Replace them with State Supreme Courts.

Linda, I’ve been thinking the same thing for several months! All excellent ideas. Maybe the way to go is to refuse federal taxes, but paid to states. Just excellent!

Linda Weide's avatar

If it is illegal there will be huge problems. We still have social security, and the federal government can probably take our homes. So, we need to get a bill passed. The trick is to get someone to make Trump think it is his idea.

Thank you, Mr. Blundell. I cannot tell you how proud I am that the governor of my state is participating in this push back. I am proud that governors of blue states are at least trying to save democracy.

My apologies, I needn't realize err know how mentally incompetent Trump is, he a sick dangerous headcase, srry Dean. It’s the latest twist in the Greenland drama. President Trump wants the island, but Denmark refuses to hand it over. Denmark Summons U.S. Envoy Over Espionage Allegations. it took me off guard the MF.

''Most Greenlanders do not want to join the United States, according to recent polls, though many have voiced aspirations to break off from Denmark and become an independent country.''

If Trump wanted to help DC, he would rescind his tariffs, restore his health care cuts, give DC the $1 billion he stole from us earlier this year, hire back the many thousands of people they forced out of government and take the military off our streets. None of this is about crime. It is about subjugating the Capital of the world’s greatest democracy, a global signal of his commitment to authoritarianism and abandonment of both the US Constitutional order and the US-led global liberal order built after WWII.

And now include a couple of billion dollars to beautify DC. And then of course there’s the takeover by DOT of the Union station. There is nothing in governance by what he is doing. How about using all of those billions to help people?

Washington state better get on board too!

We're headed for another Civil war. The only thing that I see that could prevent it is, he dies which is looking good and the Epstein files, also looking good. Keep your fingers crossed that one of the two will end this. Hopefully soon.

Hallelujah! Looks like our Blue state governors are fighting back....all is not lost

It's about damn time.

Take off the gloves, this ain't a boxing match, it's a street fight...

Thanks Dean

A seemingly easy way for local governments to reign-in their police force from helping federal forces / National Guard is to mandate that any officer and administrative staff found helping such forces will have their salary docked and benefits frozen.

Wonderful information. Thank you! I am just very sorry that my state (NH) is not on that list. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hopefully the citizens who are wondering where the dems are and what are they doing will read this and know a lot is being done. Great write up.

Thank goodness for all of them standing up with their powerful voices and commitment to save their states and cities. I feel like we have a calvary now!

Sandra Greer's avatar

Cavalry, guys on horses. (Calvary is a hill with 3 crosses on it.)

Democracycbm's avatar

I am sure most people understood what I meant; that the good guys are coming together for us. Hopefully that made you feel better to correct someone's post....really?

Steve Hart's avatar

Good point, but I guess the author doesn't think that was funny...

O.K. I know what she meant.

Still funny.

There are extremely serious problems going on in this country and world. if seeing one word inadvertently misspelled on someone's post, (which I have seen in a number of places in others but would never comment), compelled an individual to take the time to point it out, shows more about that person than me. It's a bit condescending while bragging they need to tell everyone they know better. It's a "get a life" moment.

Sandra Greer's avatar

Glad to hear it. I am advocating having the New York State National Guard assembled to turn away any hostile Guards sent to take over New York.

Pat NutShell's avatar

Dean this is the first heartening news I have heard in months. I like the approach its strong and can be backed with something Trump has been trampling all over- the law!
