Ringing in my ears for some reason is the voice of Winston Churchill "We will never back down" I am emotional, I have never felt so proud,so empowered,so willing to do any and all things that must be done to support my home and native land.

ELBOWS UP CANADA 🇨🇦

Fucking EH!!! 🧡🧡🧡 🇨🇦

I was crushed in November, when our cousins elected that baboon, again.

I’m uplifted, now, for the first time, since then.

The future does Not have to suck!!!

Thank you, Mark Carney!!

CONGRATULATIONS! Let Canada lead the way.

I am in Germany, and would love to hear this from the EU too! However, what I am reading is, that the EU is not going to be going along with the US-Trump plan made while Witkoff had his Signal call to bomb Houthis, while in a meeting that included Russia. So wrong on so many levels, so glad EU not just going to go along.

Thank you for the link. In my reading, I learn that EU sanctions need to be reconfirmed every six months and that the renewal requires a unanimous vote of all members. Apparently there is concern that Turkey's Erdogan may be a spoiler. It seems that he was also the one who held up the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO if my memory is correct. It also appears that Trump is fond (and admiring) of Erdogan. My question: How did we all get tangled up with this unsavory character in Turkey? (I had to explicitly reference Turkey here, just to avoid confusion about which man I am referring to.)

I think it might be because of US military bases in Turkey. But no US in NATO would mean no need to put up with Turkey.

When this occurred I was on a zoom meeting with a Canadian colleague. Where the fuck is US media? Not a bulletin that usually flies across my phone. An American who possibly thinks even worse of he who uses Sharpies in the White House, I bought a case of Canadian snow chips today - a practice far smarter than TP, milk & bread. In any way I can, I say thank you to Mark Carney, a mensch if there ever was one! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

That's why I have 28 paid Substack subscriptions and donate to Democracy Docket (Marc Elias).

I had to cut back. I can’t get to them all & my work too. I do read DD & others. The communities on all are engaging in kvetching & actionable ideas.

Me too. Sometimes I just skip a day. It’s too much.

Should Canada have NATO bases? Or, are there already in NATO bases in Canada? I will be asking the same about Greenland. Greenland is part of "the Kingdom of Denmark". (I didn't know Denmark was considered a kingdom.) Denmark was one of the founders of NATO.

Who owns the land under the US Pituffik Army Space Base in Greenland? I would think there was some sort of lease of the land. I would prefer that NATO staff the Pituffik Base.

Fantastic article. I've shared it with friends and family on both sides of the border.

So proud for Canada and some backbone from your leadership. As an American, I can't even begin to express the shame of the past several months, or the fact that Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney are in our same camp and as our families tear apart (all my extended and close family is Trump and they are psychotic in their thinking) and the emotional carnage that has ensued. I have spent a lifetime fighting this, but know half this country stands with Canada and democracy. I never in my life thought we'd be at the point of reading articles like this. I have traveled to Canada many times and my ancestors are from Quebec, so just know Trump does not not represent us all, and I like so many others are dedicated to full resistance.

We must keep this man in the PM position to keep our great nation safe from the downfall happening South of us.....he is the right person at the right time to safeguard our country and build a new Canada we can be more then proud of....

Not that we aren't already.....but now our future is not dependent on the US.....we will stand true.

I’m so moved and proud of Canada and Mark Carney and sick to my stomach at what we have in the US. Go Canada!
