I'd love to have something intelligent to say here but my entire brain is stuck on "holy shit, he actually pulled it off." Hell yes. 🇨🇦💪

If Never Trump means anything, it means Never Trump Wars.

And amid all of the known unknown and unknown unknown this much is known: Trump is uniquely unfit to be a war president — and the dangers are palpable.

Israel went to war with the flawed government it has.

The “president we have” is a chronic liar, erratic narcissist, seditionist, and convicted felon (which seems relevant in this context).

The “president we have” is in the process of attacking the pillars of our Constitutional order; ignoring laws; defying courts; deploying active-duty troops on the streets of American cities; radicalizing the military; weaponizing the Justice Department into a weapon of personal retribution.

The “president we have” has already invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to justify renditioning migrants to Third World gulags; and is within inches of invoking the Insurrection Act.

The “president we have” is betraying Ukraine; insulting our allies; undermining NATO; threatening to invade Panama and Greenland.

The “president we have” has suggested taking over Gaza, ethnically cleansing it, and developing it as a gaudy TrumpWorld.

The “president we have” has justified and defended war crimes.

The president “we have” is entangled in corrupt deals throughout the Mideast; and remains Vladimir Putin’s slavering bitch.

The “president we have” is surrounded by chodes, clowns, amateurs, and cranks.

That is Donald Trump has assumed dictatorial control over the nation’s law enforcement. The Justice Department, the police, ICE agents, and the National Guard apparently answer to him, not to the people or the Constitution. He has neutered Congress by effectively taking control of the power of the purse….

Think of how Trump can use a state of war to strengthen his dictatorial control at home. Trump declared a state of national emergency in response to a nonexistent “invasion” by Venezuelan gangs.

Imagine what he will do when the United States is actually at war with a real country, one that many Americans fear. Will he tolerate dissent in wartime? Woodrow Wilson locked up peace activists, including Eugene V. Debs. You think Trump won’t? He has been locking people up on flimsier excuses in peacetime. Even presidents not bent on dictatorship have taken measures in wartime that would otherwise be unthinkable. Ya think.

And let us not forget that the EU as well as the EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) already have trade agreements with Canada that eliminate most tariffs. And there is no risk that either side will introduce retaliatory tariffs out of the blue.

Unfortunately, Europe’s politics can be complicated at times, with over forty countries of vastly different size and economic power. But it appears that Mr Trump’s tariff antics have a unifying effect on Europe.

I'm smiling at the simplicity of the solution to what seemed a huge problem for the world. Life feels much different today, than it did January 20, 2025.

it goes to show that if you want a different outcome, you have to actually do something different differently.

And it takes courage to IGNORE the noise, no matter how scary it might be when threatened by a humungus gang of bullies, lead by a cruel DON.

WTG Canada, and CONGRATULATIONS to our Leader Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Pretty sure we aren't great, well respected, sensible or reliable as a partner, so it only makes sense. Good for all parties involved.

Trump is an epic failure doing the opposite of what he promised. Everyone who knows this needs to fight like our lives depend on as we fight this stage 4 cancer while the magats cling to the tumors. Pay attention and fight. We need as many people as possible in the tent so we can clean house with a super majority.

Watching Canada's coming out party from here in Brooklyn New York is invigorating. A contrast from all the groveling by other heads of state. Starmer for God's sake. Ramaphosa. But get a grip. Economic and military superpower? Really? Find your place in the world as a sovereign nation not in thrall to the US, certainly! Be the adult in the room with our demented, ignorant President, thank you. But just stay calm and carry on. Don't let Carney's grandiose vision blind you to the practical work ahead.
